Our Story.
The Business of Dentistry was born from a shared frustration — and a bigger vision.
Dr Dan Shaffer, co-founder of Active Aligners UK, had seen how often dentists were expected to run practices, lead teams, manage money, and make commercial decisions without being taught the business side of dentistry. With a background in clinical dentistry, technology, and leadership, Dan set out to change that from within the profession.
At the same time, Dr James Martin, founder of Dentists Who Invest and co-founder of Videre Financial Planning, was building a fast-growing community focused on financial freedom, smarter business thinking, and better work–life balance. It reinforced what Dan had long believed

When they connected, the vision was clear. What started as a conversation became The Business of Dentistry: an organisation built to educate, inspire, and connect dental professionals who want to grow practices, build brands, and take control of their careers.
